We are absolutely thrilled to have you join us as we embark on this journey together! Since many of you may be unfamiliar with the Sedona area, we have put together this guide to help you get the most out of your time with us during the April 29th weekend! We have spent a lot of time in Sedona and want to make sure you enjoy it as much as we do! We hope you find it helpful!

We will be hosting our wedding ceremony and reception in one of the most beautiful places in the United States; L’Auberge de Sedona in the stunning Sedona, Arizona.

Table of Contents:

What to Pack & Weather

Sedona is about 3000 feet in elevation and in the mountains of Arizona. This means that the weather can change from hot to cold in one day. During the late spring months (April/May), the temperature typically is between 75º and 85º during the day and 50º and 65º at night. Afternoon rainstorms can pop-up but usually last for short periods of time and do not produce much rain and it can be windy in the afternoons. Because of this, we suggest packing a light jacket and long sleeves just to be safe.

Note: Our wedding takes place entirely outside (even if adverse weather occurs) so we suggest that you pack accordingly!

We anticipate gorgeous weather, but it is the high-desert so anything is possible!

What to Do in Sedona

We’ve been to Sedona many times (especially for planning this wedding!), We will never claim to know it all, but it is a heavy tourist destination so there are tons of exciting things to do both before and after your time with us! There are also some pretty big DON’T’S so we recommend you read this!

Downtown Sedona & Shopping

Sedona is actually a pretty big place with a great main downtown area with many shops and places to explore! However, the downtown area near L’Auberge and Ta-la-que-paque could be considered a tourist trap so be careful! Parking in that area can be difficult if not impossible and pedestrians are everywhere so drive safely!

Also, beware that the main road to and from Sedona is a two-lane road with several roundabouts and the speed limit is 35 pretty much everywhere. Don’t speed, the fine is pretty high!

If the touristy areas aren’t for you, there is a whole other section of Sedona to the west of the downtown area with a movie theater, Whole Foods, and more ma’ & pa’ style shops. (We didn’t know this area even existed until recently!). Just stay to the left and follow signs for Sedona Airport at the last roundabouts as you come into town and you can’t miss it!

Hiking

Sedona itself is gorgeous with its countless red-rock formations and mountains. We strongly suggest that you go on a small hike on the many trails around the area, most of them you can access on foot with no hiking experience required. The air is mountain crisp and clear and we feel that this is one of the best ways to experience Sedona to it’s fullest! Just be careful, some of the trails are known to be homes to rattlesnakes and Gila monsters, so hike safely!

Pro-tip: The red rocks are gorgeous, but DO NOT TAKE THEM OR DEFACE THEM! Sedona is all protected land and you can get fined pretty heavily for doing things you shouldn’t while on the trails, so be careful!

Food

OMG. The food in Sedona is to die for. Every time we go to Sedona, we discover a new place to eat that becomes our favorite. Here are some of our favorites for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner that we feel you MUST try:

Breakfast

  • Red Rock Cafe: They have homemade monster cinnamon rolls at least 12″ in diameter, no joke.
  • Miley’s Cafe: Great Mexican breakfast foods like chorizo and eggs, huevos rancheros, and burritos.

Lunch

  • Oak Creek Brewery: Their home-brewed beer is delicious! They also have a ton of great snacks like pretzels with beer-cheese and homemade onion rings!
  • Elote Cafe: Traditional Mexican food with a Sedona twist! You have to try it!
  • Famous Pizza & Beer: Easily the best pizza we’ve found. You can get a whole pie or just a slice!

Dinner

  • Creekside Sedona: This is our #1 spot. It’s affordable, overlooks L’Auberge and their entrés are outstanding. (Brian recommends the Duck Confit)
  • 89 Agave: This is L’Auberge’s offsite restaurant. It is pricey but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
  • Che-Ah-Chi: This place is at Enchantment Resort which is about 30 mins north of Sedona. The views are stunning and the food is outstanding! It’s a bit pricey so it’s definitely a great place to take the wife or girlfriend guys. We recommend going about an hour before sunset!

Jeep Tours

Sedona has many off-roading experiences to offer but the biggest in town is easily Pink Jeep Tours. Yes, they are pink jeeps, but they are known to have the best off-road routes in Sedona. They are a bit pricey but if you have the time and want to experience the red rocks up close, we highly recommend them!

In Summary

We hope that you find this guide helpful for your time with us! We want to make sure that all of our guests have a chance to experience our wedding and experience Sedona in their own way to make it a great memory all together. We appreciate you taking the time out of your busy schedules to join us for our wedding and if there is anything we can do to help you with your visit, please feel free to email us at saraandbrianswedding@gmail.com
